I am an animal ecologist and wildlife photographer.

My background is in animal behavior, and my research as an undergraduate at the University of California, Davis was focused on elephant behavior, working mostly with a herd of captive elephants at a South African reserve. Most of my wildlife photography is from these field excursions, or from coastal California, where I was born and raised.

Beginning in August 2019, I'll be joining the Newsome Lab at the University of New Mexico as a Ph.D. student, where I'll be studying the ecology of a community of small desert mammals. You can read more about my upcoming research here.

You can get in touch with me at ztrossman@unm.edu or at photography@zoerossman.com for photo-related inquiries.
